£300,000 refurbishment works begin at Reading pub
Local Reading pub, The Three Tuns, will reopen after an extensive £300,000 refurbishment and refit at the beginning of June.
Acquired by All Our Bars in 2008, The Three Tuns quickly became a favourite with locals for its sport offering and real ales, but bosses have now decided the time has come for a brand new look for The Three Tuns and they promise the refurbishment will herald a whole new era for the pub.
Refurbishment works have already begun at The Three Tuns on Wokingham Road as the pub undergoes a complete redecoration and rebranding.
Greene King and pub group All Our Bars say the fit out will be a blend of “traditional meets modern” and works will include new bar surroundings, an upgraded kitchen, re-flooring throughout, re-surfacing of the car park, upgrades to the beer garden and new toilets but, more exciting, the wall that has long divided the pub into a two bar operation will be coming down for an open plan scheme.
The venue will be completely stripped out to allow for an entirely new pub to take shape inside. “No fixture is safe and no surface will remain untouched” says Paul Wigham, CEO of All Our Bars.
Greene King and All Our Bars have announced that they plan to reopen and relaunch The Three Tuns at the beginning of June, just in time for summer.
A new food menu, with focus on quality produce, an extended spirit, real ale and wine selection, and traditional Sunday roasts are also on the cards after the refurbishment.
Paul Wigham said: “The Three Tuns will look fantastic. We are launching a new and extensive menu supported by an unrivalled drinks selection that will include craft beers, rare premium spirits and an extended fine wine list. Work has already started and we are really excited about what we are doing. The designers have come up with some amazing ideas that will really show what a beautiful building this is.”
The Three Tuns is located at 191 Wokingham Road, Reading, Berkshire, RG6 1LT.
